According to the recent city’s general plan, the eastern periphery of Minsk will receive major urban development in the upcoming years. In Kalodziščy on the former proving ground will be located housing for 80.000 new residents.
We were commissioned to develop a preliminary masterplan for a Zelenaya Gavan neighborhood located in the southern part of the Kalodziščy development area. 200 ha site adjoins the golf course and is surrounded by a vast natural area including the Scikleva natural reserve.
The neighborhood will be connected to a broader green network through the series of green corridors trespassing the site. These corridors, alongside predefined street entrance points, serve as a backbone of the future masterplan. Our project aimed to mitigate the neighborhood’s isolation from the Minsk urban fabric. The self-sufficient urban structure is a reminiscent small town with having central boulevard connecting the main public attraction points. Local public hubs of different sizes are scattered within the neighborhood always to allow all residents access to a vibrant public square and some services despite the development phase. Building height increases next to the main public axes to create a sufficient density for the provision of amenities. The built fabric consistently follows the undulating natural topography and develops a diverse streetscape preserving existing greenery. A combination of urban subcenters with a reach green network will make a vibrant place to live with an ideal lifestyle balance.
