SOCIAL CONDENSER

Entry for an open international ideas competition for the design of Lentoasemanpuisto (eng: airport park) on the site of the former Malmi Airport.

We want Lentoasemanpuisto to become an integral part of a tightly woven network of landscapes in the area and to tie together previously disconnected heritage sites. To accomplish this, we propose the Greater Malmi route, a scenic recreational walkway along which distinctive landscapes will unfold.

The Lentoasemanpuisto will be an integral part of the Greater Malmi route. While embracing the unique existing identity of the park and its surroundings, we will leave room for residents to add their own. Lentoasemanpuisto should become an inclusive social condenser for all north-east Helsinki.
