BLOCK 430

Redevelopment of an urban block in the Brest city centre. The project is an urban design proposal for a new housing unit. The project area containing outdated small retail kiosks and vast long-term car parking. Thereby, the land was used inefficiently for the central part of the city. Building mass contains plinth accompanied by several point-blocks. Selected block typology originated from the urban fabric of the Brest inner city. In the plinth of the residential block located a commercial arcade facing the extension of a pedestrian street. Shops previously operated in the area could take new premises there. On top of the parking private courtyard for residents is located where they can find relief from the buzz of the city centre.
